Why Canberra might be the best place to get married in 2021
As a wedding photographer in Canberra, I may be a bit biased. Canberra is a fantastic place to live, but also a fantastic place to tie the knot.
Let’s explore the reasons I think Canberra (and surrounds) make an excellent option for your wedding.
1: Accessibility
Canberra is one of the most livable cities in the world. That means for your wedding day, getting from one place to another on your wedding day is going to be a cinch. This is so important for your wedding day I can’t overstate it enough.
A wedding day is one of the fastest days of your life. Spending more time than needed out of that day in transit should be a goal to avoid.
Canberra has some wonderful car rental options like A1 Rentals if this is your style.
For the adventurous, some might even choose to use a hot air balloon to elope!
Luckily in Canberra, hotels and wedding venues are all easily accessible and within a short distance of one another. Problem solved.
2: World class food, wine, coffee and service for weddings
Before I was a Canberra Wedding Photographer, I spent years in the hospitality scene in a younger life. Canberra has impressed me more than anywhere in Australia for it’s quality of food, and coffee. When you’re down to party like on your wedding day, The beer and wine here is superb as well. Consider some local options for something special.
I particularly like wines from Mount Majura Winery and Clonakilla
3. Variety of Wedding Venues
Canberra is a more diverse place than the jokes would have outsiders believe.
We have many great options for couples getting married here in the capitol.
Places like the Arboretum or the Pialligo Estate are gorgeous for larger groups and cater very well for these.
Some places like Lanyon Homestead or Gold creek chapel are excellent for smaller intimate weddings as well.
Some are expensive and cater to everything, some are more budget friendly. Some religious and traditional, some more casual and modern. All of the venues I work with and recommend will put in the effort to make your day of getting married a special one.
4. Seasons
Our seasons are extremely colorful. Backed by the Brindabella mountain ranges, particularly Autumn and Spring carry splashes even Bob Ross would envy to pant.
The golds, reds and greens of early autumn are stunning backdrops to get married against, just as are the late winter blooms of cherry blossoms and the vibrant flowering springs.
Canberra is after all the home of Floriade and the awe inspiring Canberra Balloon Spectacular in Enlighten Festival.
Canberra has so much to offer for couples whether local or choosing to elope. If you haven’t already, consider it for your wedding!
