Why 2021 could be the best time to have a wedding
2020 Threw our collective expectations of how weddings run (Or if we could even have them) off the rails.
My bride and I had to postpone our own wedding, and even after that, we were constantly worried about all the limitations that may be imposed on us for our own safety, and how they might affect our planning.
Having said that, there’s always opportunity to be found in times of change or adversity. This is no exception in planning your wedding!
One of the best ways to have a wedding in my experience, is to keep them small and intimate, with the people you care most about, as opposed to larger weddings with everyone you’ve ever known.
Time and time again, I hear the couples happiest with their weddings are the ones who stay small. They’re less cost, less stress over fewer details, and the people who want your precious time on the day are the ones you’re close to.
I really want to drive this point home : On your wedding day, time will fly faster than any other day of your life. I found it hard to believe how fast the day went by. If you make your wedding smaller, chances are you’ll actually get to experience and remember more of the day you’ve put so much money and effort into. (This is also why photography is so important!)
Consider what 2020 and now 2021 have done to weddings. The biggest weddings are the most affected, with more planning that needs to be reconsidered. When restrictions have come into place, it’s the smaller weddings that are less affected - sometimes not affected at all!
Many couples may feel a great pressure from family particularly, to invite people they may not even know! This will always increase the cost of your wedding, with a need for a larger venue, more food, decorations, drinks wedding favors - The list goes on. Restrictions in 2021 could be the perfect excuse to keep your wedding small without upsetting your Aunt who you haven’t seen in 15 years.
Consider making your wedding a small, and intimate affair. Chances are you won’t regret it!
